Should thyroid hormone therapy be given to sick patients without hypothyroidism
	In some instances, short-term T3 administration to patients undergoing cardiopulmonary bypass surgery or coronary bypass procedures may have short-term beneficial cardiovascular effects (30-32). However, in the absence of hypothyroidism, no beneficial effect of T4 or T3 replacement therapy has been demonstrated in other "euthyroid" sick patients, and, therefore, can not be recommended (3,16,30-32).
